SCOTTISH U 16 CW DIVISION 1

SONY CENTRE FURY 58 BOROUGHMUIR 51

Fury U16 CW were the last of the club's 6 home games and - no pressure - the other 5 have gone 5 from 5 and this for a clean sweep week-end ! A great opening period saw Kim Bunyan's side take a 10pt lead at 22-10 with Bailey Black outstanding in that first period. Fury maintained their overall lead with a 14-15 second period as the capital side edged the game back to a 9pt difference. When starting pg Rose Tyrrell fouled out, this was a chance for others to step up in that role and none more so than Edie McBain, who was superb throughout. Edie was also ice from the charity stripe, sinking key free throw after free throw. However Boroughmuir had it all to do as Fury edged a 16-14 third period and an 11 point lead going into the final quarter. Fury lost their scoring touch and just held out for a 7pt win and that 6-0 club week-end record in games - what a start to the season ! Top scorers for Fury were Black on 14, Tyrell on 12, McBain on 10 with the hard working Freya Melrose and Poppy Duncan sharing 12. Special mention also to Jodie Girvan who worked tirelessly throughout the game. This is currently a side with 7 U14 Girls in its squad and special mention to that group, who worked hard in both their games this weekend. Fury's team on the day was - Rose Tyrell - Edie McBain - Bailey Black - Freya Melrose - Jodie Girvan -Rachael Dagger - Bethany Sneddon - Eilidh Jack - Poppy Duncan Kirsten Whyte - Daisy Lawson - Kyla Torrance .
